Greg began working in the family insurance agency in 1982. There he learned the ropes of personal auto and homeowners insurance.
In the late 1980s, Greg began selling insurance to small businesses, contractors and churches. He especially started to see the great values offered by Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company for his church accounts. Over the next several years, Greg specialized in insurance for businesses. However, he particularly enjoyed his time with churches.
It wasn't until the mid 1990s that Greg finally began seeing the path the Lord was preparing for him. He started spending more time developing his church accounts and less time selling other types of insurance.
In mid 2000, his father, Don Gunderson, announced he would be retiring at the end of 2001. Greg and his wife Nancy began praying as to how to proceed with the agency. It was not long before the Lord made it clear that Greg was to devote all of his time to helping churches with their insurance.
January 1, 2002, Greg founded Select Church Insurance Services, Inc. where for the first time, he insured nothing but churches and related ministries. This was a huge step of faith, but he knew God had something good in store for him. Sure enough, the Lord opened the flood-gates and provided more new church accounts than he had ever expected.
Greg and his wife, Nancy, have three children. They have been active members in an independent bible church in the western suburbs since 1992 where he has served on various church committees over the years. He has also headed up several foreign missions trips to work at an orphanage operated by Kids Alive International in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic.
He knows that God will never lead anyone down the wrong path. Greg will always be the first to give the credit for his success to Jesus Christ.
